Women-owned Exotic EPZ Ltd company based in Kenya has benefitted from a collection of modern software from Autodesk Foundation that has enabled the company develop its internal processes. The software is part of the services offered to Exotic EPZ through being a client of Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV). It is in addition to financial support that was recently offered through Kenya Climate Ventures, an independent subsidiary of Kenya Climate Innovation Center.
Jared Borongo from Exotic EPZ says that the partnership between the company and KCV and Autodesk Foundation at large has enabled the company to achieve a number of projects that would not have been achieved effectively in the absence of the software. He says that the software collection has tremendously contributed to human capital, machinery and operation processes of the company.“Thinking of the time taken while using this software, we have saved a lot. It has helped us redesign our facility afresh and we now have a proper equipment and space allocation at our factory,” Jared says. “The software has been critical in the process and quality flow of the company, organization culture, safe-work practices and policies and planning of human and products movement and evacuation as well as designing waste disposal mechanisms.” Read also: KCIC supports the conversion of waste plastic into fuel Exotic EPZ Ltd engages in the processing and export of macadamia. It sources the nuts from over 1,500 of small-scale farmers spread across Embu, Meru, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Baringo and Murang’a counties. It then processes and packages the macadamia kernels for export to Europe and America. The company is owned by three women who are passionate about empowering rural smallholder farmers and agents in the macadamia nuts value chains as well as creation of decent jobs.
